Shop Local – Parking Meter Holiday in Downtown Long Beach on Small Business Saturday, November 28
Long Beach is a great place to live, work, play and shop! This year on Small Business Saturday – Saturday, November 28 – a parking meter holiday will provide free on-street parking in Downtown Long Beach.
“Long Beach is home to so many wonderful small businesses, thanks to its thriving entrepreneurial spirit,” said Mayor Robert Garcia. “Small businesses provide superior products and services, and Small Business Saturday is a wonderful opportunity to support them and enhance the Long Beach economy.”
Money spent locally is recycled back into Long Beach, where it helps ensure a healthy and growing economy. Every dollar spent in a Long Beach store helps to maintain our streets, curbs and sidewalks, and provides funding for public safety, parks and libraries.
The parking meter holiday is designed to complement the Downtown Long Beach Associates’ (DLBA) campaign to promote Small Business Saturday as an opportunity to encourage support of local businesses and escape the frantic nature of holiday shopping, especially after Black Friday.
Small Business Saturday began in 2010 as a counterpart to Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Last year on Small Business Saturday, 88 million people spent an estimated $14.3 billion on independent small businesses, providing a major boost to local economies.
During the parking meter holiday, two-hour limits for on-street meter parking will remain in effect, along with 24-minute limits at green curbs, as well as red, white, yellow, blue curb limits.
The City Place garages located in Downtown Long Beach will continue to remain free for the first two hours. City Place garages A, B, and C are accessible on Third, Fourth, Fifth, and Sixth Streets, between Pine Avenue and Long Beach Boulevard. No validation is required for the first two hours.
Free on-street parking is also available at The Pike Outlets and in Belmont Shore on Small Business Saturday. The Pike Parking Structure, located at Shoreline Drive and Queensway Bay, offers two-hour free parking with validation.
